Before I started on the Serotonin-Plus Weight Loss program, I had tried several other programs to lose weight, both successfully and unsuccessfully. Successfully – getting the weight off, but unsuccessful at keeping it off. I knew because of some of the medical issues that I had faced over the last several years that any weight loss program that I underwent would need to be a physician-monitored program. In order to undo years of sugar craving and “Road Warrior” eating behaviors, I knew that I needed the accountability of having someone on my side on a weekly basis that could explain to me why eating a certain way would work and would also take into account my various food allergies. A friend suggested that I attend the Serotonin-Plus Weight Loss Program Open House at her doctor’s office to see if the program was the type that I was seeking. As a degreed chemist, I was skeptical that this was going to be the one for me. After listeing to Dr. Posner talk about the role of Serotnin in the body and how sugar/carbohydrate cravings factor into that role and into obesity, I was encouraged. So I asked my questions about my food allergies (egg is the worst but there are others) and for the first time, I was offered alternatives instead of platitudes. So I jumped in – with both feet.
When I started the program, my normally low blood pressure was high enough for me to be concerned and the numbers on the scale could have been discouraging. But the staff and doctors at Lakeshore have been so encouraging; it feels like a family on an adventure together. Midway through the 12 week program, I am still eating on Phase 1 modified and can count on one hand the number of times my sweet cravings have attacked. By talking about these issues with the doctors and staff early on, they have given me advice and good suggestions to countering these episodes and I have gotten through them with no slips. At this point – again midway through – I am down 19 pounds and am shopping my closet. I have started giving away clothes that are too big, started moving more and have more energy than I have had in a long time. Also, because of the higher protein diet, I find that my mind is clearer and my concentration is better. I don’t feel food deprived and in fact, food is no longer predominantly centered in my mind. I have new and better eating habits that I feel that I can successfully take with me long after I have reached my weight loss goals. It is wonderful to have others tell me how good I look and how well I am doing but better yet, it is good to finally be able to look in the mirror again and be happier with the person looking back at me.
This program has been a God send!! I do not have any cravings or temptations for carbs. The food on the plan is very easy to eat and I stay full and I’m never hungry. I want to stay on the Serotonin plan forever!
